Summer Art Camp

Beach Art
INFLUENCE PROVIDED BY THE SURF, SAND AND SEA

Beach girls gather together for a fun week of art.

POTTERY SURFBOARDS AND GARLAND
The artists rolled out a slab of clay to about a one inch thickness, set it aside and drew a surfboard design on paper.  The design was placed on top of the clay as a pattern and cut out a pencil.  The left over clay was used to create beach life cookie cutter garland.

The clay pieces were fired in my kiln, painted with tropical colored glazes and fired once again.
Pottery pieces glazed and fired.

BEACH BUCKETS IN THE SAND
An early morning walk along the beach yields a plethora of sand bucket images to be used later in the day for art camp.
The girls painted their sand buckets with dots and dashes of color to create an impressionistic beach scene.  I know I'm not being biased when I say that I do have a very talented group of artists with whom to work!

CUPCAKES!!!
An art camp favorite.
A great week of art camp leaves everyone feeling a little bit fishy.

Thus ends another week of summertime art.
