When the dog's away...

the cat takes over the dog bed to play queen upon her throne.

Sometimes I wonder why cats are not born with little crowns upon their heads.

Monday in the Studio

Landscape paintings capture the illusion of light and shadow.

Picking back up a painting of my daughter that I started years ago.  Now that she's in college maybe I should try to finish her portrait.

Just taking a moment

Old brushes are broken into work and have developed a mind of their own and respond to our mind beautifully.    They must not be discarded lightly.

Time to move on there's work to be done.

So long old Pal.

A Love note

handmade for my husband.

In high school a boy whom I had recently met asked me to prom.  I said I would go, but only as friends.  We started dating five years later after running into each other in the halls of our university.  Fast forward to 35 years as we prepare to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Happy Valentines Day to my husband and best friend.

Valentine Tarts

A special treat for your favorite sweetie pie.

Fast and easy to make and tasty to the very last crumb ~ illustrated recipe included at end.

This recipe is for those short on time yet who want to create a very special and delicious treat.

Since I was in a bit of a rush I used a pre-made pie crust and cherry pie filling instead of making my own.

Yet I don't believe my tarts suffered from my self imposed time constraints.

The cooked tarts smelt, looked and, most importantly, tasted delicious.

I used two boxes or 4 rolls of pre-made pie crust and probably should have made more!

My Illustrated Valentine Tart Recipe:

A sure way to please those you love on Valentines Day and throughout the year!

ENJOY!

Girls Night Out

Friday night was a conglomeration of women, wine and art as three fun loving ladies gathered together in my studio for a step by step painting party.

Planning for the party:

In preparation for the party I pre-painted the image to be used for inspiration and gathered together all painting supplies.  The ladies were encouraged to bring a bottle of wine and snacks to enjoy.

The Art Party:

The ladies began with a blank 16x20 inch canvas and after a brief discussion about complimentary colors and composition were lead step by step through the painting process.  For this painting we used four colors:  red, green, yellow and white.

The Finished Masterpieces:

Acrylic paint dries quickly so at the end of class the ladies were able to take their creations home.
