In my Studio

A painting for Families of Autistic Children of Tidewater's annual Fundraiser.

F.A.C.T.'s symbol is a puzzle piece so I decided to create my painting on top of a glued, backed and primed puzzle.

The inspiration for this piece, as seen on the left side of my painting, came from a beautiful image by Ali Harper Photography.

And the finished painting ready in time for Camp 4 Autism's Party Under the Stars event this weekend.  Hoping it helps raise a bit of money for their event!

A new series of tiny paintings

I have recently been creating a new series of tiny, 4x4 inch paintings inspired by images posted on Instagram.    Going for a lighter touch by using watercolors or a combination of watercolors and acrylics. 

Floral cup of Tea

I send the finished painting as a small token of thanks to those whose work fueled my inspiration.   The floral cup of tea painting was shipped to Hong Kong and I received the following sweet note in return:

"I received your cute little painting in the mail yesterday, thank you so much! I've placed it on the shelf next to my computer so that I can feel the refreshment just by turning my head. :)"

Thereby adding more fuel to my Instagram  encouraged fire.

That big ball of fur taking over the image and most of my lap is actually our cat Roxy, who decided to grace me with her presence as soon as I started sketching. 

 

One of the lessons I learned while raising my two children was how to go with the flow, so with cat on lap I finished two sketches.

 

Inspiration for this painting came from a lovely image I spotted on Instagram.   The Corner House,  run by Clare and Claire, is a lovely little shop in Dorking, England

The finished painting was carefully packaged and shipped off to The Corner House in thanks for letting me use their beautiful image.
