Surfing Art

Surfing Artists come together to create works of art based on their love of summer and the sport of surfing.  Catch our creative wave as we reflect back on this ocean inspired week

The artists, ready to begin their week, pose for the camera.

Then pose for pictures that will be used for self portrait paintings.

Portraits:
The artists used their surfing photo as inspiration in the drawing

and painting of their surfing portraits -

that were embellished with waves and color.

Surfboard Art
A 'surfboard" was drawn and cut out of a foam core board,

that the artists decorated with marker and paint ~

at times, giving each other a little advice~

Or diligently working with their own thoughts

and art skills.

Portrait on Wood Blocks
While we were at the bay, I also took pictures of each artist sitting by the water.  This image was made into a print that the artists painted on and adhered to a wood block for a sculptural self portrait.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the finished wood block portraits.

The Art Show:
Showing off art projects to mom, sisters and a friend.

Discussing the creative process for each piece of art work.

Siblings take turns talking about their own art projects.

Another week of summer art camp has come to a close as we creep closer to the end of summer - but not to fret, there are still a few weeks left!!!  Next week ~ Garden Art!

  1. Wish I was there to see your budding artists up close. These projects are so fun! I know the kids had a great time expressing themselves. Love the "skim boards". What a great idea to use foam core boards!

  2. Jane - thanks for stopping by to visit. The foam boards really did turn out cool - and have a rope attached to the back so they can be hung for a decoration.
